Lost Planet is one of those titles which were very popular in the late 2000’s among hardware testers and PC enthusiasts. The tech demo is available in both DX9 and DX10 versions. I have fond memories of benchmarking my PC hardware on this title frequently in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s. Unfortunately, I am unable to run the DX10 version on my current hardware so I only have the DX9 version to present here – Though 8K resolution results always make things interesting.
The average FPS take a massive hit when going from 4K to 8K resolution. I have noticed that in general the FPS drop between these two resolutions is significantly higher for older titles (DX9, DX10) than for the recent ones (DX11, DX12).
